ANHW STRATEGIC PLAN, 2021-2024
ORGANIZATIONAL STATEMENT
In 2013, a group of Radcliffe and Harvard alumnae founded the Alumnae-i Network for Harvard Women (ANHW), a Harvard Alumni Association Shared Interest Group, nonpartisan and nonprofit (501c3). ANHW membership comprises members of the Harvard community including alumni, their spouses/partners/parents, students, faculty, staff and visiting fellows, as well as members with a Harvard affiliation, such as former faculty, Radcliffe Fellows, visiting students, etc.
VISION
We strive to increase and strengthen women’s presence, voices, equity, and leadership within the University, our global alumnae-i community and the larger society.
We commit to do this by providing opportunities for networking and a platform for addressing issues of particular concern to women within the University and beyond.
We aim to develop an equitable, vibrant, intergenerational and international community of alumnae-i and supporters with connections to the University.
VALUES
ANHW is committed to building a community that values diversity, promotes an inclusive culture and ensures equity for all. We support our community’s needs, and work to enhance its productivity and ensure success in whatever endeavors our members choose to undertake.
MISSION
ANHW advances the value of women’s leadership and success across the global society.
We expand the definition of success and leadership to include traditional and non-traditional areas, both paid and unpaid.
We provide opportunities for networking and provide platforms that increase and strengthen women’s voices, equity, and leadership presence within the University and the larger society.
Our goals for the next three years are to:
1 – Build and enhance community among our members
· Increase our membership by 10% each year, through engagements with HAA events such as Global Networking Night and Welcome to the City, through ANHW events, and through actions taken by our Outreach Directors
· Increase the number of Chapters and DSGs by 10% each year, to enhance building of communities around the world, wherever our members are found
· Ensure that programs the Corporate Board offers provide relevant member content and target diverse global audiences
a. Offer two virtual networking events annually for global members (one that is on APAC-friendly time and one EMEA-friendly time
b. Plan and execute one event annually that explores the intersection of gender and culture from a global perspective
· Survey members yearly to understand their issues and the topics that will have the most impact in advancing women’s rights, voices and opportunities
· After consultation with the Corporate Board, the Liaison Director will deepen relationships with one SIG annually which reflects an intersectional identity of our global members. The goal is for ANHW and the SIG(s) to co-sponsor one event yearly.
· Offer programs that enhance our members’ abilities to compete for any type of job or profession they may be interested in
· Enhance our education outreach, through support for programs such as the Early College Awareness Program
· Communicate about the pilot Early College Awareness (ECA) program with all our Chapters and DSGs, with the goal of having at least one group offering the program each year
· Engage 5-10 volunteers annually to work with the Corporate Board, to provide a pipeline for future officers
2 – Increase the organization’s finances
· Increase self-generated income by requesting donations from members based on strong programs and funding opportunities such as the DSG Grant Program
· Explore other funding opportunities
