The Harvard College Women’s Center with Latinas Unidas present the Peggy Schmertzler Leadership Seminar. Isabel de Saint Malo de Alvarado will speak on Fighting for Representation: Are quotas Necessary to Advance Gender Balance?

Ms. Alvarado was the first woman ever eleced Vice-President in Panama with over 20 years’ experience in consulting, development, and implementation of public policy.

Are gender quotas necessary to ensure that womxn have equal representation in government? What are some of the challenges that this could pose and why is feminism important in destabilizing gender-enforced spaces?
